Your Didac year

We would be delighted to personally present our programs to you, either on site in Switzerland or via Zoom. This will allow us to answer your questions directly and guide you through the next steps, from the application process to the start of school.

Application and Next Steps

To begin the exciting adventure, please apply online. We will then reach out to you to discuss further details and the next steps. Our goal is to get to know you better and take the time to do so. We will ask about your experience with housework, child care, hobbies, and what is important to you when choosing a host family.

We will clarify these questions through a questionnaire and an online introductory session, as well as an interview with our host family advisor. Once we have identified a suitable host family, you will have the opportunity to meet with them before signing the contract.

Testimonials

By Aysha, former au pair Didac Lausanne (2023-24)

„I chose to do an au pair year as a way to improve my French language skills, experience a different culture, and make lifelong memories. DIDAC were incredibly welcoming and made the process run smoothly from start to finish.

Before I started my au pair year, I prepared by getting experience looking after children through babysitting, I completed a first aid course, and I started building a routine of regularly doing housework chores, like laundry, cleaning, and grocery shopping.

My first day in my host family was filled with learning lots of new things all at once. Fortunately, my host family was very accommodating and made me feel at home right away. I have even remained in contact with them since finishing my au pair year.

I always looked forward to going to school in Lausanne. My teachers were very encouraging and always pushed me to improve, and in the short time I was there, I made many lifelong friends.

Now that I am back at home, I am profiting from all of the skills that I learnt in the past year. I am ahead in my French studies thanks to my au pair year, and feel more confident in myself.

I think an au pair year is something every young person interested in improving their language skills should do because it is such a unique experience that will develop important life skills such as independence and confidence. I also found DIDAC to be a wonderful organisation who really supported me along the way.

Some advice I’d give to future students is to make the most of every moment. Try to make some francophone friends in your area, engage in conversations with your host family, and be open to trying new things.“
